Describe the bug
"next background" in settings always goes to hexagons instead of the the next option

Version: v1.10.0-rc1

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

1. Go to 'settings'
2. Scroll down to 'next background'
3. Click 'confirm'
4. Observe error

Expected behaviour
The background should go to the next in the list.

Additional context
I think this is to do with getting the settings then looking for the background returned in the list with "if background not in self.backgrounds:", maybe the format is slightly different and it doesn't find the match.

I did a quick test in the REPL and it looks like you are right with your suspicion:

>>> settings.get("background", ("None", None))
['hexagons', None]
>>> ('hexagons', None) == ['hexagons', None]
False

It seems to work fine as long as we don't load it from the json file. I found this from https://realpython.com/python-json/:

"When you serialize a Python tuple, it becomes a JSON array. When you load JSON, a JSON array correctly deserializes into a list because Python has no way of knowing that you want the array to be a tuple."

ok, that should be easy to handle, just extract the list into a tuple, then compare. it'll also affect #235 ,so I'll update that one too.

I've updated #235. while testing it the pattern slowed down while on the settings menu without any background. was most obvious with the cylon pattern.
