Feature Request: Expose authentication?

I'd like to create some fax APIs for sending and receiving faxes. To minimise abuse it would be preferred that this was authenticated, but rather than re-inventing the wheel it would be ideal if these could just be verified securely against a numberwang account.

The end point should:

Confirm auth creds are correct
List numbers associated with the account

I'm wondering if this scenario would be achived by a new Type Of Service for "Fax API" that then has its own number attached to it which you send & receive on?
The API credentials could then be provided as a generated password like a SIP account?

We already have an API in numberwang to verify credentials like this.
