yeah. this used to work and i actually have explicit code to make it work.

i inadvertently broke it when I improved something else:

    bufhidden is to enable us to close the window and have the buffer be closed too
    further tying window & buffer together, besides winfixbuf.

in other words, in the past, apidocs used to leave buffers around when you closed the apidocs window. now apidocs cleans behind itself (although i think wipe would be better than delete). but then there is no buffer to return to when you press C-o.

It seems kind of impossible to fix.. either we leave buffers behind and we have C-o, or we don't leave buffers behind and don't have C-o.

Probably the way is to introduce two modes for "follow link" -- follow link and drop the current buffer, or follow link and keep the current buffer. users could use one or the other or even make themselves two shortcuts.

for help buffers, neovim never deletes them. instead it marks them as unlisted so they're not in your face. and C-o works. still feels kinda wasteful to keep them around...
