Optional types render wrong with backticks

Optional properties are being rendered incorrectly in docs like "property: integer `` ?". This affects all docs generated by this module.

Can be seen at https://renoise.github.io/pattrns/API/note.html for NoteTable / Properties / instrument as an example.

Think this is a regression compared to the first pass of this doc-gen, but I can't find the cause on a quick skim, maybe something to do with the ? having it's own link in other places messing up the render?

I've noticed that too and looked for a workaround, but could not find one.

It seems that mdbook toc messes up things here, when there is more than one link in the link text such as:

[`number`](../API/builtins/number.md)[`?`](../API/builtins/nil.md)

Do you've got an idea?

If the issue exists in mdbook toc we could try fixing it, or forking, that repo is essentially just a thin wrapper on pulldown-mark.

Are you sure it relates to the two links?

It might be that the issue is links also being code blocks, can't say I understand the problem, but maybe this line is somehow being called in-between the two code blocks, and it wraps nothing with backticks?

Could verify by not formatting types with code blocks.
