I had the same issue, even running the local docker image:

• I had trouble overriding the default postgres connection string from the environment variable.
• Running the migrations.

If you're using Drizzle or Prisma, and want to use external DB, there's nothing that forces you to use Encore's SQLDatabase. Just pass your own values via secrets and you're set:
