Hello,
I have very high hopes for this app.
That’s because, even though I’ve connected an eGPU to my Intel Mac and am running a Radeon Vii, apps like “MacWhisper” don’t work at all.

Yes, I’m really looking forward to this brilliant app because it should let me take full advantage of my AMD GPU.
However, I’ve downloaded several Whisper models, but none of them work.

If you can get it to work, I’m willing to pay you, so I’d really appreciate your help.

Whisper is not yet implemented, but it is planned to be in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to the changelog.

Do you have a specific use case in mind? I could link it directly to the microphone, but what do you need to do? Explain your workflow, and I'll think of a way to integrate it that works for the community.

The main reason I use Whisper is to translate foreign movies, TV shows, and other content.

Current Process (Highlights Only)

1. Extract the audio file from the video
2. Import the audio file into Whisper
3. Export the SRT file

Since Whisper itself is a transcription app, I use a separate translation app to translate this SRT file into my native language.

Ideally, it would be perfect if I could convert videos and audio files directly into my desired language, but just being able to “run Whisper using a GPU” is a godsend.

If there’s anything I can help with, please let me know.
(My setup is a Mav Mini 2018 with an i7 processor and an eGPU Radeon VII.)

La razón principal por la que utilizo Whisper es para traducir películas y series extranjeras, entre otras cosas.

Proceso actual (solo lo esencial)

1. Extraigo el archivo de audio del vídeo.
2. Importo el archivo de audio a Whisper.
3. Genero un archivo SRT.

Como Whisper es una aplicación de transcripción, traduzco este archivo SRT resultante a mi idioma materno con otra aplicación de traducción.

Lo ideal sería poder convertir directamente los vídeos o archivos de audio al idioma deseado, pero el simple hecho de «poder ejecutar Whisper utilizando la GPU» ya es un regalo del cielo.

Si hay algo en lo que pueda ayudarte, no dudes en decírmelo.
(Mi configuración es: Mav Mini 2018, i7 + eGPU Radeon VII).

Good news... I've finally got Whisper working on the GPU. It will be available in the next update, after I integrate it into the UI. Thanks for the recommendation and your support. I tested it directly on the RX-6700XT, and after I integrate it into the UI I'll test it on a Vega 64. It will take some time.

It's working flawlessly so far... for example, it even transcribes a 25-minute video in about 1 minute and 20 seconds. I think it could be faster, but I'll investigate it further... but for now, it works and does the job.

Some things might not work as expected, but that's why I'm working to fix them as soon as possible. You should try the app and let me know how it goes.

The update is ready; you just need to update it from within the app or download the new DMG file from the releases section.

By the way, you can use the video directly; there's no need to separate the audio. It also has the option to add subtitles to the video at once; it just needs some final adjustments Subtitle size and shape

Also, I’ve been trying this out right away, but I’m getting an error that seems to indicate “the Whisper model I selected isn’t compatible.”
