The reason for a generic cover image is because we don't want to host unencrypted images, and having a preview image that depends on the photo would require us to serve your cover image in plaintext. We already provide an option in the mobile app - we create a collage of the album contents when sharing, and the user could share that "preview" image along with the link when sharing with their contacts. However, note that even that flow has some problems - depending on the OS (iOS vs Android), in some cases this works great (e.g. using the iOS share dialog and sharing via an messaging app), but in other cases it ends up confusing the user (e.g. if they just click the copy button only the image is copied, not the URL). So the preview image you're mentioning is really a fallback. That said, I agree with you, it would be much nicer to have a more appropriate preview image, and we're actively thinking on how to do it better! And your suggestions are also welcome. |

WOW!
That is an awesome and detailed reply. I actually got two responses. They were thorough, explained the problem, why this happens, what I was looking for, why it is not available (yet) and a possible future where it could be changed. That is PERFECT support in my book, and I run a couple of startups as a Founder/CEO and only wish all of my own support teams were like that!
This is why I love your services and I am moving myself and everyone to your services that I possibly can in all my networks and even my company. Well, one of the reasons!
So thank you. Nothing further needed!

Question: When I share a link to an album, I notice that phones and most places put in a generic "Ente Photos" cover photo.
If there a plan higher up in cost or a way to customize that image to make it more relevant to the content being shared?
If not, this should be an option or enhancement.
For example here is a shared album from a beach side game of chess I played against a Ukrainian refugee from Kharkiv for $20. He was good, and I lost..... and I wound up giving him a little more than $20, lol. But I digress.
Short link service I use: https://tcum.me/mike-chess-ukrainian-guy
Ente Direct: https://pics.tcum.me/?t=ZaUVmPsb#Bu8NUoqFzAsvjJPZRdzCo1qgMoNPjuJ9EYz35tskNKcT
I'd like to pick a cover photo that displays when it is shared rather than your company.
Thanks,
Mike
