Display progress when downloading large video files

It would be nice if there was a way to see how far the download of a large video file has progressed.

Currently if I download a single large video file it says something like: “Downloading | 0 / 1 files”. But nothing changes until it is completely downloaded and decrypted in the background (I assume) and only then the “download” indicator appears in the browser. Depending on the file size and connection speed (particularly when self hosting) this can take several minutes.

This is particularly annoying if I share a file with someone else who then might think the download is broken. [That actually just happened which is why I'm writing this post now.]

Possible solutions:
– Start the in-browser download as soon as the first parts of the file have been received/decrypted.
– Show a progress bar or percentage of the download that is happening behind the scenes.

I haven't looked into how this is implemented so I don't know which of these would be a viable option.
