Viewing my albums is pretty much the only usecase that benefits from auto-rotation. Most of time it's rather annoying and causes unintended orientation changes. Virtually every app has its natural orientation and even if you like to rotate them for certain purposes it is usually sufficiently infrequent. That's why automatic rotation is always disabled on my smartphone. With photo albums it is different because they tend to have random mix of photos in portrait and landscape orientation. So rotating the phone like you would rotate a printout feels natural but having to tap an extra button each time doesn't. Unfortunately, switching the display orientation automatically is not an app-specific setting on Android but a global setting. As a workaround I use Auto Auto-Rotate (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jarsilio.android.autoautorotate). It's a great app and fixes a design flaw in the Android UI. However, I enable it just for Ente Photos, so I would appreciate if this feature was built-in and didn't require an extra app running as a permanent service on my phone.
