Dashboard update with different data source?

In pull request #7149 the Envoy cluster dashboards was updated. These changes also include a DS_THANOS datasource. I can't say I understand all the underlying dashboard JSON, but for me this doesn't work. I have these kinds of errors:

I didn't want to create an official issue, because - to be honest - I'm not using the complete addons helm chart at the moment, but start out with the standard kube-prometheus stack and add this dashboard separately. So I can't be 100% sure that this isn't only my problem. Still I think the default datasource is not called DS_THANOS in this chart either.

Yeah, it was a bad grafana dashboard export deciding to add incorrect variables to the dashboard. Should be fixed in #7263
