add a way to add a request header to ALL gateways

hello,

we currently use ingress-nginx and looking forward to migrate to envoy gateway. however one thing that looks missing for us is a way to set a global request header to all gateways.

in ingress-nginx this was possible like that:

  controller:
    proxySetHeaders:
      "X-Internal-Request": "false"

and now all ingresses did set the header X-Internal-Request when sending traffic to all the backends? is that possible with envoy gateway as well? I found a way to set the headers for each httproute but that would be a lot of work to setting it for all our gateways/routes. is there an easier way?

The same thing about the header size limit. It looks like that also only works on gateways: #5368 ?

can you try with ClientTrafficPolicy with earlyRequestHeaders, demo as following:

well that would work if I only have a single gateway, however at the moment I would have tons of gateways at least when https://gateway-api.sigs.k8s.io/geps/gep-1713/ is non experimental i won't have tons of them anymore...

another option is that we allow to target ref to a gateway class.

well I heard that ListenerSets will "soon" be stable, so I think a little bit of waiting might be more feasible, especially for the project.
