Default archiving not actually archiving

I must have been doing some thing wrong.

Following the wiki on archiving, I uncommented the archiving section of my yaml configuration file and specified the archive mount point: in my case /mnt/plotting, where /mnt/plottingnft9_001, /mnt/plottingnft9_002, ... all my disks, are mounted.

That should be just it for local archive, no?

Yet, plots just stays in dst and archives don't increase in size.

rsync is working, tested on a dummy file, per the wiki.

Could not manually run the plotman rsync command. The wiki says to copy it from plotman interactive, but my plotman interactive somehow does not work.

Any ideas?

I have a few questions here. First, you list drives such as /mnt/plottingnft9_001. Is that correct or was it supposed to be /mnt/plotting/nft9_001? Note the / after plotting.

Could you share your full configuration file here? The "default" configuration doesn't have archive commented out.

What command are you using to run plotman?

And finally, could you share the output of df -aBK?

Are you running other rsync activity to the same set of drives? It is detecting an archive process. Well, rsync likes to use multiple processes so it is detecting three. Those are the PIDs in the upper right corner (2612028, 2612029, 2612030). Also, plotman plot doesn't archive. plotman interactive and plotman archive do. You may want to take a look at the archive log files. It looks like you aren't specifying a path for that so they are going in the default location (/home/yourusername/.local/share/plotman/transfers).

Actually yes, I am running other rsync process. Should this create any problem?
Will look at the log and explore progress soon.

Actually, I just did and it worked!

So far, my rsync does not seem to bother the one plotman launches.

plotman detects "existing archiving jobs" but looking for processes with the command rsync (or otherwise configured name) that have a command line parameter that starts with the target path or URL depending on local vs. remote. If you are rsync'ing into the same set of disks then yeah, you might end up having that detected as an existing archive job which would 'block' plotman starting another.

Thanks to @altendky, here is how to problem was resolve.

1. Update to newest version of plotman
2. Use plotman interactive, as plotman plot does not run archiving, plotman archive does.
   That is it!
