Retiring ESP8266 support

Deprecation Notice: ESP8266 Support

Effective immediately, official support for the ESP8266 platform is being retired. This decision follows the migration from the monolithic repository, which left ESP8266 support in a technically broken state. The ESP8266 RTOS SDK has been effectively abandoned by Espressif, with:

• No active maintenance: Bug reports are ignored, and commits are rare.
• Missing modern tooling: No CMake support or idf.py integration.
• Incompatibilities: Growing divergence with the esp-idf framework.

Recommended Alternatives

For new projects, migrate to ESP32-C3 or ESP32-C6, which are fully supported.

Legacy Support

If ESP8266 is unavoidable for existing projects, please use UncleRus/esp-idf-lib.
