Current RTP stream of clients having a call goes through SIP server. Implementing direct media feature will decrease latency and improve user experience.

I'd like to have direct media feature, when RTP stream goes between VOIP clients without reaching server. All softphones have such feature.

We have supported P2P mode in esp_rtc also, which support peer to peer call which no need SIP server, is it meet your request? If it's the feature you requested, which IC you are running on, I can provide a simple demo code to show the usage.

Dear @TempoTian thank you for the response.
I mean "Direct media" function of SIP servers(protocol). In that mode two clients make signalling through SIP server, but media(RTP) flows between clients, without reaching server. Audio quality is much better, as latency is reduced.

@Hasaken I have search and study the "Direct media" support. It shows that this feature only support by some servers, while most server may disable this features. We have not implement it yet. It is a feature request I think, we need deploy supported server and test this feature, it may take some time to do it.

We have working solution that uses ESP32 as SIP client. This feature will reduce latency.
I can't say that it is crucial, but it is needed.
Please implement this feature as soon as you can.
