indicates a conflict between the legacy I2C driver (used by the current BH1750 component) and the newer I2C driver model (driver_ng) in recent ESP-IDF versions.

Why This Happens

• The BH1750 component is deprecated and uses the old I2C driver interface.
• Recent ESP-IDF versions (v5.2 and later) introduced a new I2C driver model, which cannot be used simultaneously with the legacy driver. This results in the conflict error you are seeing.
• The ESP-IDF now provides a Kconfig option to bypass this conflict check: CONFIG_I2C_SKIP_LEGACY_CONFLICT_CHECK see documentation.

How to Fix

1. Enable the Conflict Bypass Option:

   • Open your project in VSCode.
   • Run idf.py menuconfig.
   • Navigate to:
     Component config → Driver Configurations → Legacy I2C Driver Configurations
   • Enable CONFIG_I2C_SKIP_LEGACY_CONFLICT_CHECK.
   • Save and rebuild your project.

   This will allow the legacy BH1750 driver to work with the new I2C driver, but it is only recommended as a temporary workaround see troubleshooting guide.

2. Recommended: Migrate to a Maintained Component

   • The BH1750 component is deprecated. Espressif recommends using the Sensor HUB component, which supports the new I2C driver and is actively maintained see deprecation notice.
