Bulding with multiple default configs in one build possible? (RDT-437)

Hi,

I have a project / an app with 3 default files: One "global" sdkconfig.defaults, and two hardware-specific config files (hw_def_one, hw_def_two). These hardware-specifc files only contains the "differences", both should use the global sdkconfig.defaults as well. I would like to avoid having "full default" files for each hardware config, as it increases the maintenance burden of the defaults.

Currently, I build these two configs manually:

SDKCONFIG_DEFAULTS="sdkconfig.defaults;hw_def_one"
idf.py -B hw_one build
SDKCONFIG_DEFAULTS="sdkconfig.defaults;hw_def_two"
idf.py -B hw_two build

Now I tried to use idf-build-apps, but found it seems to support only one sdkconfig SDKCONFIG_DEFAULTS file, at least when I want to automatically find the hardware configs.

That is, when I want to build all hardware configs, using idf-build-apps build -p . -t esp32 --config "hw_*" --build-dir "hw_@w", the sdkconfig.defaults file will be omitted.
idf-build-apps build -p . -t esp32 --config "hw_*" --sdkconfig-defaults sdconfig.defaults --build-dir "hw_@w" doesn't seem to work as intended either, since the --config flag appears to override --build-dir.

What I kind-of need would be something like idf-build-apps build -p . -t esp32 --config "hw_*" --sdkconfig-defaults "hw_@w;sdkconfig.defaults" --build-dir "hw_@w"?

Can I use idf-build-apps otherwise, or could idf-build-apps be changed to support my use case?

That seems to work indeed. Not sure what I did wrong the first time I tried this, I had a default define (from a choice set) in sdkconfig.defaults which I removed in the meantime.

If I run the build now, it runs and I get

2023-05-25 13:49:45    ERROR >>> Build succeeded with warnings

And only the first config is built. This confuses me, since I didn't pass --check-warnings as an option. However, passing --ignore-warning-str .* solves this.
