Parental App - Technical Architecture

System Overview

The Parental App is built on a modern, scalable stack designed for real-time communication and high performance. This document outlines the core components and their interactions.

Technology Stack

  • Frontend: Next.js with TailwindCSS for a responsive and intuitive User Interface.
  • Backend: Node.js with Socket.io for low-latency, real-time data synchronization.
  • Database: Secure cloud-based storage for persistent data management.
  • Communication: WebSockets for real-time alerts and command execution.

Core Components

1. Admin Dashboard (Web GUI)

The central interface for parents to manage devices, view reports, and configure settings. It communicates with the backend via REST APIs and WebSockets.

2. Device Agent

A lightweight service running on the target device that collects activity data and executes commands received from the dashboard.

3. Backend Server

The orchestrator that manages user authentication, device registration, and data routing. It ensures that all communications are secure and authorized.

Data Flow

  1. Data Collection: The Device Agent monitors local activity (with permissions) and sends updates to the Backend Server.
  2. Processing: The Backend Server processes the incoming data, stores it in the database, and pushes real-time updates to the Admin Dashboard.
  3. Command Execution: When a parent triggers an action (e.g., "Lock Screen"), the command is sent via WebSockets to the Device Agent for immediate execution.

Security Measures

  • JWT Authentication: Secure token-based authentication for all API requests.
  • TLS/SSL Encryption: All data in transit is protected using industry-standard encryption.
  • Data Anonymization: Sensitive user data is anonymized where possible to enhance privacy.
