Not using a Front Matter field for the article preview image in Hugo. How can I display it in the dashboard?

Hello,

I am using Hugo as my static site generator. I am using a theme which directly manages the preview image without me needing to set it in the front-matter of my "articles". I just need to put an image named `featured.(jpg, png, etc)' directly within the page bundle, and the theme directly recognises it as a preview image for my article. I'm using the "blowfish" theme.
I was wondering if it is possible to have the same behaviour within the dashboard of this extension? If not, then this can become a suggestion!

Hi @Deewens, that is not possible at the moment. For now, there are two options:

• Configure a hidden field with a default value. That will become part of your front matter in the article, but won't show up in the FM panel.
• Using the extensibility library to render your custom image. You can find more information here: https://frontmatter.codes/docs/ui-extensibility#registering-a-card-image

Thanks! These options seem fine! If I get the time, I could potentially make a PR, but it is not guaranteed at the moment! Thanks a lot for your extension anyways!
Do you plan on extending this extension to other code editors /IDEs? (The JetBrains ones, for example)

Extending to other editors might not be easy, as, like JetBrains, it would need to be created in Kotlin. My time is limited, so currently, I focus on the VS Code-based browsers.

If there would be enough funding, that would be a different story. 😁
