Plot idea: orbit semi-major axis vs planet mass

Another idea would is orbit semi-major axis vs planet mass, grouped by discovery methods.

It is similar to the existing period - mass plot. A main difference is that period - mass plot underrepresents those discovered by imaging or microlensing, as most of those have no period.

I did a one-off such plot of all published confirmed systems in https://exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/TblView/nph-tblView?app=ExoTbls&config=PS

The plot shows more clearly that

1. microlensing found planets that are far away (> 1 AU) with low mass
2. direct imagining found planets that are really far away (10 AU - 1000+ AU)
