No hardware details, no config, no log file .... what kind of help do you expect? |

Summary
After starting evcc (restart → evcc starts), charging is enabled immediately, but the charge rate is not recalculated.
In winter, with no PV production and stable home battery SOC, charge control remains inactive until the battery SOC changes.
This also affects Fast Charge and manual charge rate changes.
Environment
Season: Winter
PV: 0 W
Charging: 100% grid
Home battery present (SOC stable)
EV already plugged in
evcc restarted (evcc starts)
Scenario 1: evcc start
Steps to reproduce
EV is plugged in
Start / restart evcc
Observed behavior
Charging starts immediately (remote start)
Charge rate stays unchanged
(last value before restart or wallbox default)
No recalculation of charge rate
Charge rate updates only after home battery SOC changes
Expected behavior
On evcc start, charge rate should:
be recalculated immediately
or
be set to a defined safe default
Especially in winter / grid-only operation:
user must be able to manually set charge rate
independent of home battery SOC
Scenario 2: Switching to Fast Charge
Steps to reproduce
EV is charging
Switch mode to Fast Charge
(Optional) change wallbox current manually
Observed behavior
Mode change is shown in UI
Charge rate does not change
Manual wallbox changes are ignored
Charge rate updates only after home battery SOC changes
Expected behavior
Fast Charge should:
immediately apply maximum allowed charge rate
react to manual charge rate changes
not depend on battery SOC updates
Analysis
Charge rate control appears to be strongly coupled to home battery SOC updates.
No control loop is triggered on:
evcc start
charging mode change
manual wallbox current change
In winter, with no PV and stable battery SOC, this leads to long periods without charge regulation.
Impact
Unexpected charge rate after evcc start
Fast Charge not behaving as expected
Manual control not possible when urgently charging in winter
Conclusion
This is a reproducible startup behavior issue in evcc, especially relevant for winter and grid-only charging scenarios.
Feedback, confirmation, or recommended workarounds are welcome.
