EVCC not starting on home assistant after initial installation

I have installed the evcc add-on on home assistant. Installed version is 211.1. When I try to start the add-on, there is no error, but it does not seem to have stated.
The log shows: "...No config file (evcc.yaml) and no database (evcc.db) file configured...".

Based on some online references from other users, I expected evcc to start directly after installation and that further configuration would take place in some sort of UI (which does not yet seem to be included in the official evcc-home assistant documentation).

What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it?
I am running home assistant fully updated, core version 2025.12.4 on HA green.

No timestamps or indication that it has tried to start

Same situation here.
New instance installed.
Started the server but was closed down instantly.
No timestamp in log.

Should I expect the the conf yaml og db files would be created automatically?

Did you create the config file as required in the documentation link? Please have in mind that this folder is not easy to find with some tools, but there are some hints about that in the documentation as well.

Create an empty evcc configuration file evcc.yaml in your Addon root configuration folder (/addon_configs/49686a9f_evcc). If this folder does not exist, create it manually.

yes and no... apparently I had to create an empty configuration file in order to have the add-on start. However, from the documentation I understood that I needed to provide the content for the file as well. I now see that I can create an empty file and the next steps can be done on screen. (and I initially didn't even create the yaml file correct, so it was my own fault as well)
