Some AR/VR systems, notably OpenVR expose a "hidden area mesh" that can be used to pre-render a near-Z/stencil before rendering the scene, with the goal of early GPU rejection of geometry that the user cannot see duie to the shape of the headset/lenses.

This could add a slight performance boost to platforms with this feature.
