Don't enable `future` crate's `compat` feature

We don't seem to have needed the feature even when we added the dependency on futures in 9c897ce. Maybe it was just copied from somewhere.

I initially sent a PR for this but it was too complicated for me to sign the CLA so I'm filing this issue instead.
