How do I set the API_SERVER_KEY?

How do I set the API_SERVER_KEY? I’m stuck at the very first step. I’ve searched for a while but can’t find any tutorials—it’s strange; is the process supposed to be incredibly simple? Setting it in the .env file doesn't work, and I can't seem to change it; I'm using the web account credentials.

Before focusing on API_SERVER_KEY, could you first confirm that the remote Hermes API is actually reachable from the computer running Hermes One?

From that computer, try opening the server address directly in a browser:

http://10.10.10.106:8642

Or test it from a terminal:

curl -v http://10.10.10.106:8642

Even if the server returns an error or a small JSON response, this should confirm whether the connection itself works.

A few other things to check:

Make sure Hermes is listening on the network interface, not only on 127.0.0.1.
If the API is bound only to localhost, another computer cannot connect to it. It may need to listen on 0.0.0.0.
Confirm that port 8642 is allowed through the server firewall.
Verify that the IP address is correct and reachable from the same network.
Try leaving the API key field empty temporarily, in case authentication is not enabled on the server.
Make sure the protocol is correct. Use http:// unless HTTPS has explicitly been configured.
Restart the Hermes API server after changing environment variables or configuration files.

Could you also share how the remote Hermes server is being started, for example Docker, the Hermes CLI, systemd, or another method? The correct place to configure API_SERVER_KEY may depend on how the server process is launched.

After installation, I can log in to the web interface (e.g., using hermes dashboard --host 0.0.0.0 --port 8080) with my credentials without any issues; however, after downloading the desktop app, I don't know how to configure the API_SERVER_KEY. Please help me.
