Time format change

Can anyone point me to an easy way to change the time format? Is it based on the pi systems time or code based?

I wanted the time to fill the screen but the am/pm made that hard. So I made it so it would add an underline to the Colon if it was pm.

I was playing around with this last night (before you posted your updated code)

Replacing draw_digital_clock in the Original code with this:
