What is the purpose of this option, or where can I read about it, when I search for this option I just get the pages for setting up the fcitx5 under wayland and some other pages not related to this option? |

How is it different to text_input_v1? |

Text_input_v1 and Text_input_v3 are different protocols for text input in Wayland. Text_input_v1 enables working with input methods in clients that only use this protocol (mostly Chromium-based apps or Electron with Ozone Wayland). This is useful for users who need input methods for languages such as Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. Text_input_v3 represents text input and place-based input methods. The protocol provides enter and exit events to track text input focus, and allows enabling and disabling the text input object and setting state information such as surrounding and selected text or content type. |

Fcitx doesn't directly use text-input-v3, it is compositor uses that protocol between wayland app and wayland. So I don't know what exactly thing you're talking about. |
