libappstream-glib is no longer maintained upstream or used by other packages, having been replaced by the appstream package. However, the former is still used in Fedora for verifying appstream metadata files in builds (appstream-util validate-relax) as well as for compiling distro and flatpak metadata (appstream-compose command, not to be confused with the appstream-compose RPM which provides the appstreamcli compose command).
libappstream-glib has not been updated for the latest version of the appstream standards, and therefore it doesn't always validate data that appstream accepts. This mismatch only causes more problems as time passes.
The entire Fedora ecosystem needs to be migrated to appstream (appstreamcli subcommands), and libappstream-glib dropped.
