Handling massive updates

Wondering if there are ways to improve the page load speed when handling a massive update? The most recent openssl 4 example stops the browser to a crawl. If the issue is with the checks tab, that we can probably improve, but if it is more general 🤷

The checks tab is loaded asynchronously, so it should not be the problem.
The problem is object serialization, loading an update causes to load a lot of data from database as it fetches all related objects. While I tried to get things better in the past, I'm no sql/sqlalchemy expert to tweak object relationship more than this...

Could use a more detailed breakdown of where the object serialization happens. It seems to be a similar issue that wherever this heavy step is, it does not need to be synchronous operation?

@LecrisUT you can use bcd to experiment with this locally I guess. It uses a daily snapshot of real Bodhi data so after setting up a bcd environment you should be able to load in real large updates and poke around at the code to try and figure out where it's slow and stuff?
