This is a workshop that will cover some background and fundamentals regarding data visualization principles and the need for data visualization within the scientific research field. Specific plot types commonly used within data science and bioinformatic research will be explored. Best practices for ethical and accessible data visualization will be introduced and common challenges for effective data visualization will be discussed. Finally, an activity will be used to interactively build a data visualization.
