Hey! Thanks for raising this.

asdf is technically only needed for local development. If your goal is to run it on Void Linux I reckon you could try the prebuilt binaries (or via the helper script). There is no C dependency in the code so it should just work.

If you want to compile locally (atm some Makefile targets indeed rely on asdf), it's enough to have go compiler and goreleaser on the PATH and run:

goreleaser release --snapshot --clean

which is what make does.
Then make install.

For development I wanted to dive into mise but haven't had the time yet -- might do it some time in the future but do not expect this too soon, judging by the issue it is mostly nice-to-have.

I've played with it a little bit, I think going for mise and taskfile/justfile would be my go-to here, but need to evaluate the two makefile replacements. mise is nice, I like it, but the tasks functionality seems a bit underwhelming at the moment.

I know that your proposal was mainly switching asdf to mise for tools versioning, and after testing I agree with it, just throwing some random thoughts since I've been reading a bunch of repos/usages of tools in the area in the past couple days.
