How to run form validation before custom Action is called

I have a custom page with a form that includes a custom Action.
Before executing the action, the form shall be validated to secure a meaningful state of all inputs before working with their data.

How can I trigger that?

What do you mean about "custom action"?
$this->form->getState() will validate the form

Aaah, great, when you do it this way, the form is being validated! :-)

I did not call this line but went through $get('field-1') in order to get the values of the fields I needed, and got back just their current states, without any validation (of course...).

You can also call $this->validate() at the beginning of your action method.
