🐛 [firestore-translate-text] The translation extension does not work with existing documents

Good evening, excuse me for disturbing you, but I have a big problem. The translation extension does not work with existing documents, even though I checked yes in the translation of data from existing documents. How can I solve this problem without retyping the thousands of documents I have? Thank you very much

I have reproduced this issue.

The "Translate existing documents" option also says "If you’ve added new languages since a document was translated, this will fill those in as well.", but from my testing, it doesn't do this either.

While I have a look further into this issue, this code should recreate the documents, which should translate for as long as you have the extension installed:

You may want to create a backup beforehand using:

Hi there, we've looked into this - The backfill feature was disabled in an earlier version due to flaws in the design, and in the latest version I've mistakenly uncommented the configuration parameters to enable backfill.

I will escalate this with the extensions team, as there are internal discussion regarding backfill across extensions.

Sorry for the confusion.

We will re-disable this parameter in a new release of the extension ASAP.
