Finufft Matlab Installation on Mac OS 15

I am having an issue installing Finufft for Matlab R2025b. Attached are the make.inc file I used along with the error message.

Hi, can you try cmake instead?

We tried cmake, as you proposed and with other variations, but the error persists. Here is the output:

I'm not the Matlab expert so I wait for the others to give more accurate advice. The only thing I can think of is do you have the parallel toolbox installed?

Update, temporarily fixed by @danfortunato that apple native clang + brew libomp is breaking with matlab 2025b. Switching to use gnu gcc works for now.

I am having the same issue, even when I use gcc I still get symbol(s) not found for architecture arm64 even when using matlab 2025a

For makefile Mex build, you may need follow @danfortunato https://github.com/danfortunato/matlab-gcc to change matlab Mex to use gnu gcc too, so both libfinufft and mex file are both built with gnu gcc.

For the cmake Mex build, it might be something related to the what @danfortunato finds about issue in Apple linker.

Can you add -v to MFLAGS in your make.inc and send the output again?

here are the new make and output files, I tried placing the gcc in the matlab mexopt folder but that didn't help. I am using GNU make 3.81 thanks

With gnu gcc, if you add -ld_classic to MFLAGS, does it help?

Thanks for testing, I added the -ld_classic to one of the Mac make.inc files

It seems to be a new issue, before we only need the -ld_classic or -ld64 for building libfinufft binary.
Now with the new Xcode and newer version Matlab, compiling the mex interface seems to need the flag too.

@lu1and10 Maybe it’s best to pass $LDFLAGS directly to $MFLAGS in make.inc?
