Online Map - useless languages

What happened? How can it be reproduced? Provide as much information as possible.

It seems that many countries do not show the English name on the open street map and show the local name from the the current leaflet provider... this isn't very useful for a global audience. Example:

Do you have any suggestions? I’m looking for an OpenStreetMap tile server that shows place names in English. The one I’m using displays French and German names in QLog, and I haven’t found any others. Do you know of any? This is not a QLog issue, this is not a Leaflet issue; it's an OpenStreetMap tile server issue.

Yes, I know about those, but they are not usable except DE and FR. I personally don't see anything there that can be used as a substitute of the current map

Option: Could use vector rendering for English case:

Unfortunately, the patch cannot be used because it does not work with older QT libraries used on Linux.

I thought I could solve this by polyfilling the old js engine in qt5... I don't get any errors now but the map doesn't work right.. back to the drawing board. I think we need to get a source of english raster tiles somehow.

For reference, QtWebEngine version 5.15.12 is using chromium 87.0.4280.144, which was released in Jan 2021

It works using older library versions which presumably work with older javascript engines. I noticed one thing that does not work smoothly is that when panning the map, new tiles don't get drawn unless you zoom. perhaps it's some sort of callback which isn't working. I can look into it more if you think this should be the way forward. This could also reduce network usage if the user is only downloading vector definitions and not raster images.
