Border colour between splits.

Hi. When I have multiple splits open (I'm using the light theme) it's very hard to see any differentiation between one split and the next. How can I change the colour of the border line please?

Add this to opts (if using lazy.nvim):

  opts = {
    on_colors = function(colors)
      colors.border = colors.blue0
    end,
  },

So, in general, if I want to change the colour of something (anything) how do I find out what variable (e.g. colors.border) I need to change?

I think you need to check the lua file for your chosen variant, e.g. storm. Search for any highlight group in that file to see what color is used.

hey, is there any way to completely remove borders as well? I tried doing colors.border = "NONE" colors.border = colors.none and colors.border = NONE but all of these just replaced the border with a bright white border instead

(also fwiw setting it to colors.bg doesnt work either because i have transparency turned on so you can easily tell that the background is still there)

An alternative approach you might consider is using thicker borders. Like you, I was having a hard time differentiating my splits. It was a combination of the default tokyonight border color and how thin the default borders are rendered on my Mac 27" Retina screen. Here is a screenshot with default borders:

Before changing the border thickness, I used to change the border color as suggested by the other poster, but I prefer to keep my border color the same as my status line for continuity. I like how the vertical split blends into the status bar. So, I changed my default fillchars to these thicker variants instead:

And here is a screenshot with those settings applied. For me, this additional thickness is sufficient for me to be able to differentiate my splits using the tokyonight's intended border color:
