Yo, @davelab6 , or any reader who comes along this path, tapping into your knowledge base again :)

So first I wanted to use ttf2eot but it seems eot-utils is package that supersedes this…
it’s available in the debian/ubuntu repos

reading the http://www.w3.org/Tools/eot-utils/

EOT files apparently don't work if the "rootstring" is absent
(empty). You'll need to give at least one URL to mkeot.

Is that true? I have indeed found similar stories online.
But how does FontSquirrel do it then? I could use these Fonts on ie without supplying the FS interface with a rootstring.
And I want the generated fonts to be useful everywhere, while the rootstring determines, iirc, the domain on which you can use the font?

If you’re aware of best practice I’d love to know
heart
