Success/Error Message (Output Panel)

Summary

Since today, could be because I've updated the extension, I no longer get a message with the output panel when deploying or retrieving something from the org.

Steps To Reproduce:

1. Select the file you wish to deploy or retrieve.
2. Then right click somewhere in the file and either select 'SFDX: Deploy This Source to Org' or 'SFDX: Diff Source Against Org'. It should work but no success or error message shows up in the 'Output Panel' that used to appear afterwards.

Expected result

It should have opened the Output Panel with either a Success or Error message.

Actual result

Nothing.

Salesforce Extension Version in VS Code: 66.5.4

Salesforce CLI Version: 2.130.9 win32-x64 node-v22.22.2

OS and version: Windows 11 25H2

VS Code version: 1.115.0

Most recent version of the extensions where this was working: Previous version perhaps.

Was the setting turned off by default in a newer version by mistake or did I do something?

We improved the handling of the metadata related commands like deploy, retrieve, and delete in v66.5.4. In that process, we hid the notification behind this setting and defaulted to it being off.

Since we've gotten several issues on this topic: Did you expect a notification to be there only because you've seen it there in previous versions? If you were a new user, do you think you'd find it odd to have no notification? We'll bring this back to our team discussion based on what users think.

Let me ask the question the other way around. Let's say you are a brand new user of VSCode and you try to retrieve something from the source org (that you already have the latest version but you want to double check) and you execute 'SFDX: Retrieve This Source from Org'. What do you, as a user, are expecting after you click that button? Same goes for 'Deploy' and/or 'Delete' or any other process for that matter I think.

I believe the user should be presented with some sort of notification regarding the process it just executed, that way the user knows the process went through and something has happened (be it success or error) this alone eliminates the "guess work" that the user has to go through after clicking the button and nothing seems to have changed on the screen (just like what happened to me earlier).
