Here is the exact code I am trying to use in Jython:
from org.freehep.graphics2d import VectorGraphics
from org.freehep.graphicsbase.util.export import ExportDialog
export = ExportDialog()
root = event.source.parent
export.showExportDialog( root, "Export view as ...", root, "export" )

The Dialog window pops up and I select the file type to be PDF. I get the error after clicking the Okay button.

I was told by someone that the Alloy look and feel is getting a null value from the Graphics2D object when it needs a GraphicsConfiguration object. Is the getDeviceConfiguration() method returning null?
