Current Behavior
Pressing Enter submits the message immediately.
Expected Behavior
- Enter (tap): Submit message
- Enter (held down / long press): Insert newline for multi-line editing
Alternatively, consider the more common convention:
- Enter: Insert newline
- Shift+Enter or Ctrl+Enter: Submit message
Rationale
Users often want to compose multi-line messages. The current behavior makes this difficult or impossible without a modifier key convention.
