Epics with open children in bd ready?

Hey all. I'm still pretty new to beads, so please forgive me if this is a silly question.

Per the title, I'm curious why epics with open child tasks show up in bd ready. I just had Claude churn out a bunch of tasks for me, and they all appear to be labelled and related to each other correctly, but all but two tasks in bd ready are epics. Given they have unresolved child tasks, doesn't this imply they're not ready? Or if you look at it from the angle of an epic solely being a container, then is it ever actually "ready"?

Is this a gap in my understanding of how beads does things? Or maybe a quirk of how Claude configured everything without me explicitly saying to file child tasks as blockers of the epic? Or is this a valid thing that just hasn't bubbled up to grab enough attention yet?
