Description
Hi, this is RUMBURack – a pack of gear designed to easily run LIVE production on the go (and yes, the name is a pun from an ancient fantasy TV series I watched as a kid). I came across a Black Friday sale on the DeskPi T1 and its accessories and decided I was done with the usual cable mess, where everything interconnects with everything else (and some extra stuff too) during streaming sessions.
The core of the system is the ATEM Mini workhorse, accompanied by several Pis and control surfaces to run a show with ease (the ATEM is really bad with macros, which is why its buttons are permanently covered with a Decksaver).
The whole setup runs off a single 480W GaN power brick, except for the Pi5, because it behaves poorly with USB-PD and reports being underpowered even with this oversized PSU.
Gear:
FRONT:
- AK2515 build described here
- GeeekPi 7.84" touchscreen with custom kiosk page
- 2× Stream Decks, removed from their original cases and rack-mounted in a custom 3D print (Companion-driven)
- A cable mess conveniently covered with blank plates :^)
SIDE:
- Atem Mini Extreme ISO HDMI
REAR:
- GL-SFT1200 router
- Netgear GS308 unmanaged switch
- (Space reserved for an Ezcoo 4×2 HDMI matrix)
- 2U universal mount bracket
- custom blank plate with 80mm Noctua Fan mount (USB-driven)
- Pi5 running Bitfocus Companion and various broadcast tools I usually use (also, since it has NVME connected I'm planning to run USB gadget on it, so that Atem can use it as USB drive for ISO recording)
- 2×Pi4 running Bytehive PlayoutBee seamless HDMI players for animated backgrounds and similar content
- Rocoren 480W GaN USB-C power brick
- D-Panel
- 6 camera inputs
- 2 outputs (for PJ or large multiview monitor)
- audio input (for connecting Rodecaster Pro)
- YUV output (either connected to the Pi5, which streams preview using SRS, or to an iPad Pro running MixEffect with LiveUSB enabled)
- WAN IN (because every live stream is better when you're connected to the internet :^))
- 4x Schuko PDU (because the Pi5 really only likes being powered by its branded PSU)
If anyone feels inspired or would love more details - drop me a note.
