I have some time I'd like to put toward ScarletDME. I would like to assist with the un-QM-ifying, but the first thing I'd like to tackle is getting the MVDBMS running on Apple Silicon Macs. I've seen Krowemoh's stuff, but I'd like to keep the build vanilla C and not migrate to zig. So far I've run into the following issues:
The Makefile will fail if the path uses any extended macOS characters. This may just need to be a warning
The install portion of the Makefile fails on macOS, because the "groupadd" command is different
The installation directory should be under /usr/local
qm won't start because '/run' doesn't exist and '/' is a read-only filesystem (even 'sudo' doesn't give the process write-access). I'd have look-up what's the right "BSD-ish" way to do what '/run' is used for.
Not having worked with the project before, I really don't want to start opening issues without getting a feel for the lay of the land.
