Vehicle CanBus - SavvyCAN compatibility? Or other software?

Hey team!

I'm looking to use my ESP32 S3 Bus Pirate to talk to my Car's canbus, and pass the data to a program such as SavvyCan. Is this something that is supported? If so, any suggested software? (i'm not the smartest, but can follow detailed instructions)

Also, is there a discord server for this project where we can all talk?

I appreciate this device and look forward to having fun with it!

Hi,

I'm not very experienced with this protocol. SavvyCAN probably uses a specific device to PC interface, which means the Bus Pirate would need to emulate one of the supported adapters.

The MCP2515 lets you communicate with CAN at a low level, but it doesn't provide a PC-compatible interface, You'll be able to see and decode the CAN frames in the bus pirate, but not really interface with a program
