CPU usage becomes abnormally high when downloading mods

When downloading within the game, CPU usage becomes abnormally high, also the download speed is much slower than downloading directly through a browser. In both cases, I was using Clash Verge as a proxy, maybe the proxy causes this issue.

v0.5.4 is not an existing version so I will assume you mean latest.

There is nothing abnormal here, downloading large files will require extra CPU resources for decryption and polling async tasks. I don't know how many CPU cores you have to judge, but 3% to 11% for a download doesn't sound like a lot.

As for the download speed, it's hard to say anything since I know for most people it's as fast as their internet.

Maybe it's not obvious to you, but when I download mods, my computer's fans start spinning loudly. This doesn't happen when downloading from a browser, nor when downloading music in-game. So to be honest, I really don't think the download system is no problem. By the way, I'm using an 8-core CPU.

The download speed is indeed slower than other methods, which also makes it more prone to being interrupted midway — especially when downloading larger mods.

I'm not very technical, but I think adopting the browser or in-game music download method as the way Geode downloads mods may solve this.

i cannot reproduce any issues still. on my computer, during an active download (tested with a fake 1gb mod file) the CPU usage goes from 5% to 8%, which is well within expectation for a processor with 20 logical CPUs. this is while downloading at around 100MB/s
