Magnetics: B vs H

In the magnetics portion of the GPG, I think we would be best off trying to be consistent with

• B : "Magnetic field"
• H: "Magnetizing field"

Would it be better to keep consistent with the normal nomenclature?

• B: Magnetic Flux Density
• H: Magnetic Field

That works well for electromagnetics. So I think we should use B: Magnetic Flux Density, H: Magnetic Field for em.geosci.xyz.

However, when talking about magnetics, that gets clunky... Every map students will see of "magnetic field data" will be B in (nT). When they look up the "magnetic field" of the IGRF, that is again going to be B in units of T or nT. So there is a strong association of B with "magnetic field" and we aren't going to change that. I also like when we talk about the fields inside of a target, thinking of H as the "magnetizing field" is quite natural. Here is how we introduce susceptibility, for example, M is magnetization, and H is the "magnetizing field" makes that easy to explain, and easy to stay consistent with

We should look and see what Blakely does, but I think for mag, there is such a strong association of B=magnetic field, we can't try to break that
