Problem Statement
We want to draw more people into leveraging the search that we've recently added better AI capabilities into. On the upper header its a bit hidden right now, and we don't want to make the header overly distracting.
The image is significnatly large today; and pushes useful content further down the page. While fun, it might not be the most useful.
Also; core areas of the product are buried under "What is sentry" and require digging.
Solution Brainstorm
Still WIP; but a couple of thoughts / prototype
- Remove the image
- On the landing page, add the search component under the H1/H2 text with appropriate spacing
- Add new card components for core platforms areas that would give users a quick jump off point into core areas of the product (Errors, Tracing, Performance, Replays)
- Would need to get better icons in for the platforn items
Pros:
- Search is more primnently visible on the site, psychologically, peoples eyes will land in the middle quickly
- Core paltform functionality is more prominently featured, making jumping into core product areas quickler; for relatively small "real estate" investment
- Top-half of page is has more "usability" vs prior that was largely taken up by the image
Cons
- While small, the platform icons do push SDK content further down beneath the fold
- Same applies to search; pushing the text further down
- Search might feel redundant since its in header and on the landing page (but the search would persist in the header across other pages too, which makes it consistent and useful IMO)
