Description
Hello Umbrel team,
I am reporting a hardware compatibility issue with UmbrelOS 1.5.
After upgrading from UmbrelOS 1.4.2 to 1.5, the system becomes unusable due to severe video output corruption over HDMI.
The issue appears to be related to graphics driver / iGPU compatibility.
With UmbrelOS 1.4.2, the same hardware works normally.
A downgrade back to 1.4.2 was required to restore normal operation.
Observed behavior
UmbrelOS 1.5 boots, but the HDMI output is completely corrupted
The screen shows horizontal artifacts and distorted colors
No readable console or UI is visible
Issue happens immediately on boot with UmbrelOS 1.5
Downgrading to UmbrelOS 1.4.2 fully resolves the issue
Expected behavior
Normal HDMI video output, as observed on UmbrelOS 1.4.2
Hardware information
Beelink U59
System
Linux umbrel 6.1.0-34-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.135-1 (2025-04-25) x86_64 GNU/Linux
CPU
Intel(R) Celeron(R) N5105 @ 2.00GHz
Memory
16 GB RAM
Storage
NVMe: Kingston SNV3S2000G (2 TB) SSD : Kingston SA400S37960G (960 GB)
Graphics
Intel integrated GPU (multiple HDMI/DP outputs detected)
Additional notes
This system was fully functional on UmbrelOS 1.4.2
The problem started only after upgrading to UmbrelOS 1.5
This strongly suggests a kernel, DRM, or iGPU driver regression
An image of the corrupted HDMI output on UmbrelOS 1.5 is attached to this issue
