Description

Should replace #3018.

Spec: todo, currently based on this comment.

Current open PR(s): #7089

Naga:

  • Add mesh, task shaders to naga shader types so wgpu-hal can stop pretending they are compute shaders
  • Support in WGSL frontend
  • Validation
  • Support in SPIRV writer
  • Support in hlsl/msl writer

Backends:

  • Vulkan
  • DX12
  • Metal

Features

  • Multiview mesh shaders
  • Queries
  • Point primitives(at least in vulkan)
