when you get used to this, you are getting addicted, as I observe this feature is in the most of the apple apps. must be added! |

There are a number of threads concerning shift-selection of text in various circumstances, but one request I did not see was the ability to do shift-click selection like you can in macOS Terminal.app. Basically, click on an arbitrary position in the terminal, then hold shift and click in any other position (possibly scrolling the terminal before this).
At least with the settings I've got now, this doesn't work. I tried all values of
mouse-shift-capture, but none of those enabled this behavior. None of the other settings I've customized seem even remotely related, so I'm assuming this is just a feature that's not implemented.I find myself reaching for this pretty often out of habit. Dragging the selection is vastly inferior, especially if the copied output spans more than one terminal height (like with Java tracebacks). Shift-clicking is especially excellent when using a trackpad, where extended dragging operations are quite uncomfortable.
I've only got macOS desktop machines ATM, so do not know if this is a Mac-only issue or not.
