Custom screen scrollback file location

Configure a custom scrollback file location for write_scrollback_file. because i'm working inside a VM, that VM doesn't have access to the scrollback file that ghostty writes on the host. i was wondering if i can configure this location so it's not /private/var/..., and instead a custom location that i can set and clean up myself.

If you set the environment variable TMPDIR before launching Ghostty it should write the scrollback files to that directory. You can't set it from a shell running inside Ghostty.

thanks, although i'm not really sure how to do that on macOS, so difficult for me to test. unless i launch ghostty from another terminal with, eg. TMPDIR="$HOME/my-tmp-dir/" open -a Ghostty.

it would still be useful i believe to expose it as a ghostty config
